During the first 12 years of our lives, we are creating beliefs about our selves, others and the world around us. Beliefs about what is safe, who is safe, how valuable we are, etc. Based off of the experiences we have with our parents, teachers and interactions in our daily lives. Until we reach a time in our preteen years when we decide we are done gathering information and it is now time to experiment on what we have learned thus far.
These beliefs that we gathered during childhood become our subconscious voice. The Subconscious has a job. Its number one job in this life is to keep you safe. These safety protocols may have been necessary during childhood, but they may have out-served there usefulness as adults. In fact they may be holding us back from reaching our most important goals, whether it be in relationships, business or other aspects of our lives.
The subconscious mind has over 70 thousand thoughts per day. By contrast our conscious mind can only focus on one thought at a time. Over the years these thoughts become almost automatic and lightning quick. They create strong neurological pathways in the brain. Its like performing the same exercises year after year. Those same exercises become so easy, almost like breathing. What if you wanted to try a new exercise, one you've never done before?
