EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES

Some of my favorite tools that I use during coaching that I find the most useful in my practice include...

TAPPING

Tapping is an enhanced from of EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT has been proven to cure most cases of PTSD. Tapping on specific acupressure points can be used to alleviate physical and emotional pain. When we experience a traumatic event our body releases an abundance of negative emotion. The body has a way of processing and storing this energy the best way it can to protect us so that we can go about our daily lives. Many times and especially in the case of PTSD there is so much energy released that the body cannot process it all at the time of the trauma and much of it gets stuck in various places of the body.

Our bodies then create a shield around this energy to protect us from the full magnitude of it. If we were exposed to the fullness of it on our nerves, it could literally kill us before too long. So the body creates a shield to protect us the best it can so we can go about our lives, but the intense emotion is still waiting for a trigger to remind us that we still have not healed completely. This is where tapping comes in.

Tapping is allowing the body to finally process all the trauma once and for all. it does not erase the memory of the trauma, but the energy/emotion behind it is gone. We only get to keep the wisdom we glean from our life's experiences. What a blessing.

When we have a thought the hypothalamus in the brain releases a chemical associated with the particular thought we are having. When our cells go to reproduce themselves, they create more receptors for the chemicals that we have been creating and releasing. If the cells do not get more of the chemicals that it created receptors for, like an addiction they actually ask for or crave it. In this way, our bodies/cells can become addicted to whatever chemicals we have been feeding it.

This is where we get terms like "Drama Queen". Our bodies can become addicted to the chemicals associated with sadness, anger, drama and even excitement. It is so much easier when we are re-programming the neurological pathways in the brain to also address the cells. Tapping helps to break the pattern that the cells have been programmed with so far making them more receptive to the new program we are creating.

RESISTANCE TAPPING

Rather than being an emotional or energetic tapping, resistance tapping is tapping around the part of the brain that fights to keep thinking that way it has been thinking or in its old thought pattern. It gets its name from the resistance that we may feel when we are offering our brain a new thought pattern. We are telling our subconscious mind that we will be safe with this new thought pattern. Using both tapping methods together is like erasing or painting over the canvas so that we can create what we want. By the way, you get to choose your programming and you always have the option to choose to accept a belief/thought or not.

VISUALIZATION

Did you know that many successful people visualize their success before it actually takes place? From athletes to performers and more! Our minds cannot tell the difference between something happening in real life from a dream or a visualization. If this is true that anything you can imagine is possible, why not create a different childhood if you need one, or be able to speak to someone who has passed on if that is what is needed to facilitate your healing journey? We can use visualization to even find out what it is that you need to heal.

EVIDENCE

This is a tool used to create and remove beliefs and install new thoughts and beliefs. I like to use this tool on particularly stubborn views about life and others. These are usually stated as if they are unalterable facts of life with a specific more intense energy behind them.
